Home. What a perfect word. Home, for the adult, is what you make it. For me, there are two senses of home. The foremost is my home with Joseph. I can be home anywhere as long as I'm with him. This was evident to us last week on vacation. Even sitting on a park bench in Santa Fe's Plaza, I feel home having him next to me. My second sense of home is this house where we live everyday. There's comfort in the familiar, and it's good to be back here after traveling 1100 miles last week on our trip. It's especially good to have my Joe back here with me, feels complete now.
I'm one of the lucky ones who gets to work from home, and I love being able to see the way that the light changes in the house at different times of the day. It's peaceful to me. We have this large set of windows in the living room, and it fills the main living area with light. So far, I think my favorite hour is just after breakfast when the morning sun comes streaming through those windows, and the house smells like bacon and coffee mixed together. (I love that smell!) That feeling makes me want to snuggle up on the couch and read... but wait, I work from home, so that's actually the time when I have to go into the office and start working. That's ok... there's always coffee breaks.
This week we've been working to get everything put away from our trip, get the house cleaned, and get all our little projects done before classes start next Monday. I'll try to get some pics of vacation uploaded as soon as I can. We had a great time together, and saw some amazing sights.
