These boots were made for walking...

Cuz it certainly ain't dancing! Had my cowboy boots on last night, and did actually attempt to dance. It could be argued whether it was actually dancing. Joe and I decided to be young and crazy last night, and went over to the Wild West club here in Lubbock with some of his friends from school. We actually didn't even leave the house until 11pm to go "out". I think it means I'm officially an old fart when I think 11pm is too late to be leaving the house for the evening's entertainment. Got home around 1:30. I'll tell you who doesn't feel "young and crazy" this morning... me! that's who. Geeze, where's the coffee already?!

So, we're at this club, and let me tell ya, I think I was the oldest one there, aside from the club security team. However, it was a lot of fun, and I kinda want to do it again, just maybe with more adults and less college kids. It's a country club, so immediately when you walk in, the dance floor is packed with couples two-stepping, twirling, and everyone has on boots, and a lot of guys have on a hat. You've never seen so many rhinestone belts in one room. Joe and I took a few minutes to assess the situation, and generally chuckle at some really entertaining characters. After a while, I looked up at him and said, "do you think we could do that?" He looked at me kinda funny, and said that he thought we could probably fudge it since it appeared so many others were. Now you have to understand that in Texas, there's really only one dance step that is done for any song played... and that would be the Texas Two-Step. Doesn't matter if the song is fast or slow really. As long as it's country, then it's the two-step. The great thing is, it just keeps repeating, and the whole crowd moves in a general circle, around and around. So, we stepped out. And, turns out, it's really fun, well, except for the pain in your hip from your muscle cramping due to the quick, quick, slow stepping. I'll just have to work on that.
Once again, I realize how blessed I am to have Joe for a husband. Among the list of his other great qualities, he's a good dancer too. I'm learning that I have previously way over-estimated my own dancing skill. He gets out there, and just glides around, and then also manages to look like he's not even working hard at it, and actually looks really charming. What a man! He's that guy that every woman wishes would dance with her because he holds you exactly right, leads where you should go, and then effortlessly flirts with you the whole time he's navigating the dance floor in the middle of a hundred other people. Yep, he's mine. Wow.
Well, I don't have any pics from last night, but I do have a picture of my first dancing performance, which I think you might enjoy. I'm the swan with the big bandages on her knees under her white tights, because my graceful self spilled it the night before in the driveway before my big dance recital.

Where were you performing? The Triway auditorium? Next you'll have to show us a picture of you playing Aunt Eller... ;)
